| The Mission - The Danish Immigrant Museum shares the legacy and continuing influence of Danish culture as realized in the experiences and contributions of Danish immigrants, their descendents and Danes living in America. Organized in 1983, The Danish Immigrant Museum (a non-profit institution) opened its first core-phase in June of 1994. The building is a magnificent half-timbered building on a 20-acre site. It suggests an authentic Danish farm. Future expansion will connect buildings around a central courtyard just like farms often do in the "Old Country". The museum is dedicated to telling the story of the Danish immigrant's experience across North America. Explore their travels from Perth Amboy, New Jersey - to Solvang, California, and Danevang, Texas - to Dalum, Alberta. Traditions carried on by later generations of Danish-Americans are presented in programs, exhibits and special events. The museum is a national center for Danes, gaining recognition each year and providing a gathering place for Danish related meetings and events. Contributions from many individuals are what make The Danish Immigrant Museum possible.
