Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, Protector
Annual giving to The Danish Immigrant Museum in the form of member contributions, memorials, honorariums and special needs donations continues to be the primary source of funding for its annual operating budget.

The Danish Immigrant Museum Budget Supports:
• The Curatorial Department that documents and cares for the more than 250 artifacts received yearly; and interprets them through temporary and permanent exhibits.

• Educational activities that heighten awareness of the history, arts, cultural traditions, and achievements of Danes and Danish-Americans.

• The maintenance and care of the museum's property and collections and all other general operating expenses that range from lighting, temperature controls, salaries and office supplies, to maintaining amenities that insure your visit to the museum are pleasant and memorable.

• The maintenance and continual development of the museum website; a world-wide meeting place and repository for an inside look at The Danish Immigrant Museum, Danish history, ancestral genealogy, research and other Danish related topics.

• The Family History & Genealogy Center (FHGC) that assists people in tracing their family heritage. Most of the FHGC collection has been donated to the museum as families down-size their homes, and close estates. Many valuable items that may otherwise be discarded, like books, printed materials, family documents and photographs are frequently gifted to the museum. The FHGC is interested in and collects a wide variety of print material pertaining to Danish immigrants, their families and descendants, Danish-American communities, churches and institutions, as well as background information on immigration and Danish history and culture.

Please inquire before sending materials - Telephone 712.764.7001 or Fax 712.764.7002. The FHGC cannot accept everything, and when material is received that duplicates or falls outside the collection policy an effort may be made to find an appropriate home for it elsewhere. Other institutions with substantial holdings of Danish materials include The Danish Immigrant Archive at Dana College in Blair, Nebraska, and the Danish Immigrant Archive at Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa.
