The scale was used to weigh passagers’ luggage at the Hansen Heights railroad station on the Hansen family farm in Iowa. The scale is capable of holding up to 2000 pounds. Hansen Heights railroad station was a station between Kimballton and Atlantic on The Atlantic Northern Railroad. The Atlantic Northern Railroad was completed in January 1908 so that farmers had an easy way to get their products to the markets. The line was abandoned in 1936 and the scale was sold at auction to Mr. Soll.
