Adolph, born in 1898, and Lorena, born in 1903, were both children of Danish immigrant couples who came to Lincoln County, Kansas, in the 1870s and ‘80s. They married on March 22, 1922, and raised their 3 children on a farm near Ash Grove until they retired and moved to the county seat of Lincoln. Lorena came from a family of long-time lovers, several of whom are also featured in this exhibit. Her parents, Andrew and Karen (Gravesen) Nelson lived to celebrate their golden anniversary; her sister Clara Nelson and Henry Jensen were married for 60 years; and her brother Andrew Nelson jr. was married to Adolph’s older sister Olga Josephine Jepsen for 59 years.
