Sisters Dorothea Rasmussen Smith and Marie Rasmussen Sorensen were daughters of immigrants from the island of Møn who had settled in Marne, Iowa in 1892. After receiving training in dressmaking and millinery with a Mrs. Roberts in nearby Atlantic, they became part of the group of professional dressmakers who would travel and reside with families for whom they were sewing clothes. Here we see them wearing some of their millinary creations.
