Karen Marie Nissen Family
Eske was born in 1845 in Hunderup, in Ribe County, and came to the U.S. in 1871. Karen Marie was born in Bro, on the island of Ærø, in 1853 and emigrated in 1874. They were married Aug. 20, 1876, at the parsonage in Bowman’s Grove, near Jacksonville, Iowa. This photo was taken when the brothers were in the Danish Army around the time of the Dano-Prussian War of 1864. They both immigrated to America.
