Heady Stuff (Hatte og Huer)

Marie Jensen Winther (1883-1960) and her mother, Grethe Madsen Jensen (1844-1923), of Kolding, Vejle Co. Grethe came over to the US to join her married daughter sometime after her husband Frederik’s death. The photo was probably taken around 1902, when Marie and her husband emigrated. They settled west of Audubon. Marie is wearing a straw saucer-shaped hat, while Grethe’s headpiece resembles those worn by Queen Victoria of England.
