This Victorian home west of Poplar, Iowa, was built for Andrew M. Petersen in 1905 by carpenters Carl V. Andersen, a Danish immigrant, and James Barmington, of Jacksonville. Their house designs utilized elaborate scrollwork and decorative shingle siding, and often featured large open two-story front porches.
