G is for Generations

Four generations of the Vangsgaard-Madsen family. On the far right is immigrant Petrina (Vangsgaard) Madsen (1863-1941), who came with her parents to Arlington, South Dakota, from Hørdum in 1878 as a teenager. She married Christian Lars Madsen there in 1885. On the far left is their son, Clarence Lewis Madsen (1885-1985); in the middle, his daughter, Lila Irene (Madsen) Thompson (1917-2002); and on her lap, Petrine’s great-granddaughter, Ardell Beverly Thompson (1939- ).
