Danish Christmas Carols

njoy Danish Christmas carols - sung in English! - along with the history and background of each song and songwriter. John Mark Nielsen, executive director of The Danish Immigrant Museum, introduces each carol. Pastor Keith Menter of Elk Horn Lutheran Church leads the singing. Curator Tova Brandt accompanies on the museum's Victor Borge piano.

Bedstemor's House
Bedstemor’s House was built in 1908 by a Danish immigrant in Elk Horn, Iowa. Today it has been restored and decorated as it would have looked when it was built. A unique opportunity to step back in time and see an early immigrant town house. The fascinating history of the house is told in the three-part video below.
Fastelavn

Dania Sko
The video features an interview with the two founders of Dania Sko, Jens Sorensen and Howard Juel, the two former business partners shared the fascinating story of the company and their famous clogs made in the 1970s. A pair of the clogs made it into the museum collection in 2010.

Exhibit Videos
Church Basements and Children's Homes: In this series of interviews the stories of church missions both in the US and abroad are told through first hand accounts. Interviews with missionaries, former inhabitants of the children's homes and staff and board members, helps to deepen our understanding of Danish-American missions and children's homes.
