Your Museum in the Heart of the Continent
The Danish Immigrant Museum is dedicated to preserving the culture and history of the Danish people who immigrated to America. Extensive collections of artifacts as well as special temporary and traveling exhibits are on display in a striking, modern half-timbered building situated on 30 acres of
plush rolling hills in western Iowa.
With paid admission you will also visit the Morning Star Chapel and Jens Dixen Cabin, both located on the museum grounds. You may chose to walk the meandering “Friendship Path” or drive the few short blocks to Bedstemor’s House. This charming Victorian home was built in 1910 and has been authentically restored and decorated to the time in history when it was first built. You may also wish to stop in and visit our Family History and Genealogy Center located on Main Street. You can of course also visit our Museum shop were we sell many excellent pieces of real Danish design and delicacies. Our Lego area with the Lego town is located inside the museum and is a great way to keep children entertained.
