Wayne Alwill wore this uniform while he served in the U.S. army between 1952 and 1960 with the 350th Medical Center at Bremerhaven, Germany and at Camp Roder near Salzburg, Austria. After his discharge he returned to his former occupation as a farmer in southwest Iowa. Wayne’s grandparents on his mother's side came from Schleswig, which was under Prussian rule at the time of their departure in the 1860s.
