Long-term LoversAndreas Møller Christensen came to Omaha, Nebraska, in 1910, one of 6 brothers who immigrated to America. Inger Marie, a native of Rakkeby, on the northern Jutland island of Mors, arrived in 1912 at the age of 17 to assist a recently widowed sister living in Carter Lake, Iowa. Andrew and Inger met in Omaha. Inger had found employment as a nanny for a wealthy Jewish family and Andrew delivered milk to this home each day. They got to talking and enjoyed each other’s company. ~~ They were married in Pella Lutheran Church in Omaha on July 12, 1916. After operating a dairy farm in Carter Lake for a short time, they moved to Wessington Springs, South Dakota, where two of Andrew’s brothers had located. Here they ranched, trucked and farmed for many years before retiring into town. They were a loving couple with traditional Danish values of hospitality, kindness, caring and no fear of hard work, and shared their home with a homeless man for 17 years. In 1949 they were able to visit Denmark together. ~~ Andrew passed away in 1966; Inger died while returning from a visit to Denmark in 1974. The couple had 5 children: Jens Moller, Edna May, Paul Riis, Eugene Moller and Robert Moller.
