This certificate of Danish citizenship belonged to Baker Andreas Schultz who opted for Danish citizenship in 1921. Born in 1891 in the area of Denmark later to become German, he became a Danish Citizen before emigrating to the U.S.

After the loss of the Sleswig-Holstein region this was not an unusual occurrence. Many papers brought to the U.S. by Danish immigrants may be written in German, and over time the ancestor may be mistakenly identified as a German.
