Hans Peter was a Mønbo, born on the island of Møn in Præstø County in 1882, and immigrated in 1896. He attended Dana College in Blair, Nebraska, and was ordained as a Lutheran minister in Racine in 1910. His first call was to serve Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Dane Valley, near Culbertson, Montana. Dora Kathrine was born in 1893 in Northfield, Minnesota, the daughter of immigrants Niels Christian and Marie Katherine Dorthea Hedvig (Fryhling) Nielsen. They married in Dane Valley on July 10, 1911. Although their wedding portrait was taken in a studio, the outdoor photograph of the actual wedding party shows a more realistic view of their surroundings. HPK Hansen served several other congregations before moving to Fort Dodge, Iowa, where both he and Dora lived until their deaths in 1967 and 1991. ~~ Wedding portraits of older generations on both sides are also part of the FHGC collection.
