This country home was built by Danish immigrant Andrew Esbeck around 1879 some 2½ miles southeast of Elk Horn. It was reportedly the first frame house built between Exira and Elk Horn. Now the home of Lynn Johnson -- a great-grandson of Andrew’s brother, Lars -- and his wife, Connie, it has of course been modernized, with piped-in water and motorized horses.
