Bronze Rabbit by Dennis Andersen Description:

The rabbit has been used to represent a character in many children's stories we have come to love. This rabbit was created by artist Dennis Andersen to serve as a paper weight and possibly as an icon of your favorite rabbit fairy tale.

This bronze figure was created by hand by carving the form from clay, making a plaster mold, filling it with wax, discarding the plaster mold, making sand/resin mold from the wax form, burning out the wax, and filling the final mold with hot liquid bronze. The cooled surface then received a final patina. This process is equivalent to one week of labor.

Dennis J. Andersen lives in Atlanta, Georgia and recently graduated from the Welch School of Fine Arts at Georgia State University with a concentration in sculpture. This is a new undertaking after completing a long career in the "corporate world". Dennis is of Danish ancestry and originally from Elk Horn, Iowa. He is a former board member of the Museum of Danish America.

Dennis's artwork is currently featured at the museum in the exhibit Home: Sculpture by Dennis Andersen as part of our Danish-American Artist Series. The exhibit will be on view through May 6th, 2016.
