Museum of Danish America Hires Youth and Community Educator

My name is Anna Thomas, and I am thrilled to introduce myself as the Youth and Community Educator. Originally a Seattle native, I moved to the Quad Cities for my education and earned a bachelor’s degree in history and art history from St. Ambrose University and my master’s degree in museum studies from Western Illinois University.
I’m deeply passionate about history and immersing myself in it. The Elk Horn community and the Museum of Danish America exemplify how history can be both preserved and experienced firsthand. My goal as Youth and Community Educator is to increase engagement by creating a diverse program schedule that includes both established favorites and exciting new initiatives.
Outside of work, I find joy in reading, painting, antique shopping, and spending time with family and friends. I am married to my husband, Heiko, and we are proud parents of a two-year-old daughter who teaches us to appreciate the wonder in everyday moments.
