The Stories Behind the Sound – Live Jazz Webinar with Henrik Wolsgaard-Iversen
January 31 @ 11:00 am
Live on Zoom + In-Person Viewing at the Museum
Join us for a special live conversation with jazz historian and broadcaster Henrik Wolsgaard-Iversen exploring the American jazz musicians who made Copenhagen their home in the 1950s and ’60s—especially those drawn to the legendary Montmartre Jazz Club.
Through rare video clips, personal anecdotes, and historical context, Henrik will bring to life stories of some of the greatest jazz musicians who loved Denmark, including Ben Webster, Dextor Gordon, and Louis Armstrong. Wolsgaard-Iversen offers a uniquely personal perspective on why Denmark became a creative hub for so many musicians.
This event will be framed as an informal, engaging conversation rather than a traditional lecture, with time for questions from the audience. Each segment will pair archival footage with stories that humanize these icons and place them within the broader jazz scene of the era.
Attend live via Zoom or join us at the museum for an in-person viewing experience.
