The modern world is obsessed with the Vikings. Movies, sports teams, and more connect to medieval Scandinavia. Despite academic interest in the modern Viking phenomenon, museums have usually kept to the distant past. Until now.

Vikingmania! is a new traveling exhibition organized by the Museum of Danish America and presented by Viking Aggregates. The exhibit is dedicated to explaining why the Vikings are still so cool. By comparing historical artifacts, high-quality replicas, and Viking-themed material from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries, the exhibit teaches a little about the real Vikings while delving into the many ways they define modern society.
