My name is Hannah Kidder, and I am so excited to be the Collections Intern at the Museum of Danish America! Born and raised in the suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota, I’ve always been passionate about the past. My academic background clearly reflects this passion as I completed my BA in History at Augsburg University and my MSc in Care of Collections at Cardiff University. It is an immense privilege to be able to handle museum objects and ensure that they are well cared for so their stories can continue to be told for generations.

Over the next few months, my projects at MoDA will be varied. I am eager to work across departments as I help prepare for the upcoming Vikingmania! exhibit, create a design proposal for a revamped children’s corner, and complete a survey of a cabinet full of photos and paintings waiting to be rediscovered. The scale of MoDA makes it easy to collaborate with coworkers in other specialties, which is one of the reasons I was drawn to this position—there is always something new to get involved in!

In my free time I enjoy coloring, collaging, doing puzzle books, and spending time with family. I love being outdoors, whether it’s kayaking or camping or just lying in the sun, though I am also a well-known couch potato! I cherish opportunities to travel both domestically and internationally, and Wales has a special place in my heart due to my time living in Cardiff. Though I have not been to Denmark (yet!), I have tremendous appreciation for this unique culture and people, and I am grateful to be learning more about it at the Museum of Danish America.
