In Service to Country - New and Old

Jørgen “George” Jensen, born in Overbarrit, in Vejle County, was in the Royal Horse Guards, and served at Frederiksholms Canal. This photograph is from 1864.

This commemorative medal was awarded to Jørgen Jensen in recognition of his service in the Dano-Prussian conflict. Many soldiers who subsequently immigrated to the U.S. were eligible
to receive the medal. The Museum has several in its collection and the FHGC is compiling a listing of veterans living in the U.S. who applied for it.
